ALFRED KUBIN {ART 1897-1909}

Alfred Kubin was born April 10, 1877 (My dad’s BD) in Leitmeritz on the Eble River in northern Bohemia – now part of Czech Republic but at the time it belong to Austria.  kubin12   This painting is called the Pagan sacrifice !

I simply love it… Similar to one of  my own fantasies… Being Swept away !

Alfred Kubin – at his time was well respected by his fellow artist and still is in our time. Alfred Kubin came from a dark childhood – he brought his strange affairs and dreams into reality with his drawings and stories. His life is surely interesting enough that for the first time ever, I read every single document written about him and or his personal letters that where displayed in the NEUE GALERIE (in NYC) which is where I discovered his work and immediately fell in love with. Kate Moss

kate6_web
Photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott for Interview magazine.

The last of the supermodels. Kate ended an era and then started another one.  There’s something really special about Kate.  She is a casual philosopher. She knows everybody. And if she doesn’t know everything, she knows a lot– about a lot of things.

Limited Edition Pentax K2000

whitepentaxfront

Pentax’s K2000′s already gotten itself some… shall we say “glowing” reviews, but news that the DSLR will now come in a Limited Edition white is like icing on a super delicious cake. The camera will be exactly the same as its old-fangled black predecessor, and will come with custom white-and-black 18-55mm and 50-200mm lenses. Considering the real lack of color in the DSLR category, some people should be pretty stoked when it goes on sale in February. An exact price wasn’t released, but the black K2000 runs about $800.

 The 2009 Vogue Paris calendar — which comes as a supplement to the December/January issue — arrived a little early.  Fourteen different girls are featured, photographed by Terry Richardson and styled by Carine Roitfeld as pinups in Louis Vuitton lingerie and shoes.  Jourdan Dunn is a sexy nurse, Ali Michael a sexy cheerleader, Eniko Mihalik graces the cover as sexy kitten — Carine even included a spread for the solar months, with patrons saints Alber (Elbaz), Gareth (Pugh), Lara (Stone), and their ilk celebrated.

SHEPARD FAIREY {ARTIST + GUERRILLA MARKETER}

POLITICAL ARTIST OF THE YEAR SHEPARD FAIREY

When the street artist and guerrilla marketer Shepard Fairey got word from the Obama people that they would welcome his contribution to the campaign, he knew what he wanted to create: a phenomenon.

All political art is propaganda (that is the point), but most political posters are bland, forgettable, wallpaper, like Fred Thompson on an off day. Fairey wanted something more iconic — aspirational, inspirational — and cool. In other words, he wanted to make posters that the cool cats would want. The 2008 Democratic primary season equivalent of the Che poster (with all that implies). More Mao, more right now. The kind of poster that might make its way onto dorm room walls of fanboys. The kind of poster that might sell on eBay, as a signed Fairey Obama recently did, for $5,900. He wanted his posters to go viral.
