i need coldness
to remind me of the heat
i love you
because everything is quiet.
i remember you
because everything has a sound.
beneath the roses
and bent grass,
where the wolf sleeps dreaming of blood
in innocence.
I’m finished
with romantic holocausts..
don’t get me wrong
but these are myths…
imaginary fables
that tell of creatures
made of imaginary bones.
and the empty side of the bed
is a constantly rediscovered country.
& even as i have fluttered inside you,
nestled close,
my wings brush about your organs..
& i steal brief glances
of the beating above,
the place where i entered
where another had left.
& my nest is in your bones,
nipped from your hair,
your lost fingernails.
the universe is warm here,
and the darkness keeps me quiet while i sleep.
