At the May 12th WestLicht Photographica auction in Vienna, a new record was set for the most expensive camera in the world - this Leica 0-Serie camera with serial number 116 sold for 2,160,000 EUR (around 2,790,000 USD). The previous world record was also for a Leica 0-Serie Nr.107 that sold for 1.3 million EUR (1.9 million USD) last year.

hpgrp GALLERY NY is pleased to announce a group exhibition, “Beyond 1 lens & Over 100 eyes ” May 17—June 2, 2012

The exhibition will explore the uniqueness and diversity of visions in the New York metropolitan area seen through the 100 eyes of professional photographers.

Accompanying, the development of technology, anyone can become a photographer using a digital camera and or cell phone. Moreover, making beautiful and interesting photography is becoming easier than ever. However, there are so many professional photographers around the world and New York is one of the biggest cities of varying kinds of photographers. As a gallery of New York, we aim to show what professional photographers are feeling, and thinking through their lens.

This exhibition is an inauguratory experimental group show of hpgrp GALLERY NEW YORK. Contemporary photography is an important direction for our gallery, and we plan to exhibit the work of many more talented photographers from around the world in the near future.

Why do you do what you do? I find a lot of joy in sharing beauty, philosophy and history in my work.  The majority of my pieces are based on sacred symbolism, sacred geometry and nature.  With each piece, the hidden information of those powerful symbols become infused with wearer, empowering them to become more conscious beings.

Karin and I are  passionate about helping others in need.  With that said, we have teamed up with the Ochoa Family Foundation to be proactive about providing assistance to those less fortunate and in the hands of cancer.

On May 9th in New York, the Ochoa Family Foundation will host an Evening in the Country to Give Hope Back.  This year’s event will transport guests to an elegant evening in the country, complete with cocktails, signature hors d’oeuvres, dancing, live music, and an after-party.  The event will be produced by WCMG Events and  sponsored by Tito’s Handmade Vodka.  You don’t want to miss this event!

About The Ochoa Foundation

The Ochoa Family Foundation is a private family foundation founded by Jean-Claude, Marlena, Claudio and Maria Ochoa. Historically, the Ochoa Family’s philanthropy has been conducted largely in-private. The Foundation was created to formalize the family’s giving, raise awareness related to poverty and cancer, and provide a mechanism to channel the support of the family’s friends to these causes.

The Foundation has two principle funding directives. First, the Foundation seeks to provide direct assistance to individuals and families in-need, rather than through large systemic initiatives. Second, the Foundation’s resources are designated primarily for causes related to cancer or child poverty.

As part of the Foundation’s focus on fighting cancer, the Foundation has established the J.C. Roumain Cancer Assistance Fund. The Fund provides small one-time financial gifts to families who have a family member fighting cancer, particularly terminal cancer. The gifts are meant to assist the family pay pressing living expenses, such as housing payments and utility bills, as well as some medical expenses.
